INTERNATIONALISATION IN ACTION
In June 2025, FemEng Botswana, in partnership with the Digital Learning Academy (DLA), engaged BIUST volunteers in regional STEM workshops aimed at inspiring girls to explore science and technology. Here, the team is seen during a debrief session on “How to Make Your Own Speakers,” an interactive activity under Electrical and Electronic Engineering designed to spark curiosity and hands-on learning among students.
FemEng (short for Female Engineers) is a student-led initiative originally founded at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. The group’s mission is to inspire, support, and empower girls and young women to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
FemEng partners with universities, schools, and organisations around the world to run outreach programs, workshops, and mentorship activities.

THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCAL!
Digital Learning Academy (DLA) is proud to partner with Sustainable Energy Botswana to advance Green Skills and Renewable Energy Education through Work-Based Learning approaches. After completing theory sessions with DLA, trainees move into field attachments where they gain hands-on experience in solar system installation, maintenance, and operations. This collaboration bridges learning and real-world practice, empowering youth and professionals with the skills to support Botswana’s transition to clean, sustainable energy. DLA and Sustainable Energy Botswana are building a workforce ready to lead the nation’s low-carbon future.
